About Invader Within

I was 49 years old and living in Philadelphia PA. In August of 2006 I was told I have Colon Cancer, and required surgery to remove the tumor in my descending colon. I had the surgery on August 8th and the colon resection was unremarkable, spending 4 days in Hospital. After the pathology report came back my Surgeon recommended chemotherapy as a precaution to protect me from the cancer coming back. Hopefully the professionals are correct. I started the treatments in October, 12 cycles every two weeks for 6 months. I receive the chemo protocol called FULFOX 6 in a 2 hour infusion in the Hospital and go home with a “pump” connect to a chest port with one of the drugs 5FU (no pun intended). I wear this device for 46 hours and go back to the Hospital to get unhooked. Now I know what a fish feels like with a hook in its mouth, I get the plastic cap tube from the pump to the port snagged every once in awhile. The chemo treatments ending in March 2007. This category is about my experiences in dealing with the invader.
